Franz Rothe studied mathematics, physics, and music, and finished high school in Karlsruhe. He earned a diploma in mathematics from E T H Zürich and a doctorate from Tübingen. Moreover, he was given a professorship at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, USA. Franz Rothes interest in music has led him, together with pianist Thomas Turner, to develop a repertoire of classical music for flute and pianothey have recorded and released three CDs. Now, Rothe has retired and writes books about mathematics.
